New World Wines

New World wines are those wines produced outside the traditional winegrowing areas of Europe and the Middle East, in particular from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States (primarily California).

In comparison to Old World Wines, these places very recently, frequently within the last few hundred years, started making wine. As a result, their wines are typically fuller-bodied and more fruit-forward. With a new perspective on the age-old craft of winemaking, New World winemakers frequently have more latitude than their Old World counterparts to experiment with various grape varietals and production methods.
