Corked Wines

While we make every attempt to provide wines of good quality and provenance, we cannot guarantee the personal 'drinkability' for every bottle we sell. It is the industry standard that older wines are purchased "as is" and at the buyer's risk as to the drinkability of the wine. This policy includes "corked" wines (those tainted with TCA and smell of wet cardboard). This wine fault occurred during the cork selection process and is completely out of our control. For the aforementioned reasons, no refund or exchange will be granted.

Gitton Père & Fils Sancerre Les Crilles 2018 delivers classic Loire Valley elegance, revealing the purity and minerality that defines Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc. Pale straw with green reflections, the nose is lifted and expressive—grapefruit, lemon zest, green apple, and gooseberry, with subtle notes of white flowers, crushed stone, and flint. The palate is light to medium-bodied and precise, with zesty acidity, a fine mineral backbone, and flavors of citrus, orchard fruit, and fresh-cut herbs. The finish is clean, persistent, and chalky—a superb showcase of terroir-driven Sancerre.

Established in 1945 by Marcel Gitton with barely 1 acre, the Gitton Père & Fils Estates today cover close on 60 acres (27 ha) situated amongst the best areas of the region. The vineyards are located on various distinctive soils (flint, different types of chalk) of the villages of Sancerre.

The Gitton Family has become notorious over the years for its respect of traditions, the main philosophy of the house. Since each vineyard has its own specificity, every effort is made to vinify the individual grape harvests separately so as to preserve the subtle qualities resulting from the various soils. Each vineyard is vinified without the use of artificial yeast or enzymes. Family's ambition is to produce distinctive wines, each having its own character, respecting the fruit of the vines, the particularities of the soils, and thus to provide wine-lovers with a range of wines calculated to satisfy the most discriminating palates.
