To protect the provenance of delivered wines, exchange and returns are not allowed.

Corked Wines

While we make every attempt to provide wines of good quality and provenance, we cannot guarantee the personal 'drinkability' for every bottle we sell. It is the industry standard that older wines are purchased "as is" and at the buyer's risk as to the drinkability of the wine. This policy includes "corked" wines (those tainted with TCA and smell of wet cardboard). This wine fault occurred during the cork selection process and is completely out of our control. For the aforementioned reasons, no refund or exchange will be granted.

Margaret River (known locally as "Margs") has an international reputation for great wines. Famous for having a more "European" wine style than its counterparts across the country, Margaret River has made its name through its unusually refined Cabernet Sauvignon (often blended with Merlot), gamey Shiraz, intensely citrusy Chardonnay, and refreshingly grassy "SSB'" blends of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The Mangan vines were planted in the 90’s and are certified biodynamic and carbon positive. This wine is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc 33% Semillon and 7% Verdelho. 2022 was a cooler season and low yields ensured that the vines were at quality. Harvest started from 22nd February to 6th March. The crushed grapes were given overnight skin contact to create greater phenolic tension and palate depth. The wine was then fermented naturally and left without oak to be bottled with all the vibrancy of the current vintage and also purity of flavours.

Established in 1971, Cullen grapes are grown in the ancient soils of Wilyabrup, Cullen wine comes from the heart of the land rather than the mind of the winemaker. We are the only biodynamic and carbon neutral winery in the region. In early 1965, Kevin and Diana started considering other uses for their land and they came up with the idea of lupins. They decided to get in touch with Dr John Gladstones whom they had known for some time, who was at the time senior lecturer at the University of Western Australia and had studied lupins in his post graduate research. At the invitation of Kevin and Diana, Dr Gladstones visited their property in Wilyabrup in the spring of 1965, when his first paper was not yet printed. According to Diana, Dr Gladstones upon seeing their land said “Oh, you’re mad growing cattle and sheep, why don’t you grow grapes?”.

In 1971 Kevin and Diana again undertook vine planting, this time on their own land in Wilyabrup, where the current vineyard still operates today. In 1995, the adjacent Mangan Vineyard was planted and farmed biodynamically by the Cullen Estate. The two estates contribute exclusively to the Cullen vintages every year.

Committed to biodynamic viticulture, Cullen Wines has evolved into an iconic winery that has always been focused on quality, integrity and sustainability at all levels of the business. In June 2023, Vanya Cullen (daughter) is honoured, humbled and excited to accept the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to viticulture and oenology; thereby honouring the legacy of her parents Diana Madeline and Kevin John Cullen.
