Return and Refund Policy

Return Policy

To protect the provenance of delivered wines, exchange and returns are not allowed.

Corked Wines

While we make every attempt to provide wines of good quality and provenance, we cannot guarantee the personal 'drinkability' for every bottle we sell. It is the industry standard that older wines are purchased "as is" and at the buyer's risk as to the drinkability of the wine. This policy includes "corked" wines (those tainted with TCA and smell of wet cardboard). This wine fault occurred during the cork selection process and is completely out of our control. For the aforementioned reasons, no refund or exchange will be granted.

Rioja in Northern Spain is best known for berry-scented, barrel-aged red wines made from Tempranillo and Garnacha. It is arguably Spain's top wine region, and certainly the most famous.

The 2017 Jarrarte is made with 100% Tempranillo grape and matured in used oak barrels for 12 months. It should not be confused with the younger and unoaked Maceración Carbónica due to the label Crianza which usually is not oaked. The wine is bottled in May 2018.

2017 was super challenging and early, and the wine shows some development, seeming a little more oxidative notes than other vintages. 10,786 bottles produced.

Founded in 1988, this winery now owns 16 hectares of vines that are farmed organically near the town of San Vicente and the adjoining villages.

This small winery is owned by Abel Mendoza and Maite Fernández, a husband and wife team based in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Their wines are among the most interesting, rare and sought-after in Rioja, in part due to their aversion to all things related to wine guides, events and media. For two generations Abel Mendoza's family has been farming vineyards in Rioja, and today works 37 individual parcel, scattered in and around the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (towards the border of Rioja Alta and Alavesa). Jarrarte was the initial brand, but it is now reserved for the young red wine. Other bottlings are sold under the Abel Mendoza name. Tempranillo forms the basis of most of Abel Mendoza's reds.
